Rhosllanerchrugog was the first project undertaken by our ProVision – total lighting solution service. Working closely with Salix Finance to provide a full street lighting upgrade, interest free, and paid back in full within 5 years.

ProVision secured Rhosllanerchrugog Community Council  over £69,000 of government backed, interest-free Salix funding to supply and install the entire Community Council with LED Technology in a bid to save energy, reduce carbon footprint and save on maintenance costs.  A total of 522 luminaires were installed over a period of one month, replacing predominantly 35w SOX lanterns with 16w ProVision PV-S LED’s.

The upgrade is set to save the Council approximately 100,000 kWh per annum, which translates as  £11,000 per annum (£110,000 over project life) in electricity cost savings. In addition to this is and carbon saving of 41 tonnes of CO2 per year (410 tonnes over life).

In addition to the energy and maintenance savings Rhosllanerchrugog are now, as a direct result of the scheme, in adherence to the “Well-Being of Future Generations Act” as well as the “Wales of Cohesive Communities”. Both are initiatives by the Welsh Government which aim for low carbon, eco-responsibilities as well as safe, attractive community environments.

As one of the largest Community Councils in Wales, ProVision hope to showcase the scheme as a working model to demonstrate to towns and villages across the UK, helping those with no capital convert to LED technology through this simple solution.
